Talking about “what if” scenarios isn’t easy—especially when you’re a parent. But as Asheville estate planning attorney Chris Craig explains in a recent Citizen Times article, having a solid plan in place can offer peace of mind and protect the ones you love most.

In the article, Chris emphasizes that estate planning isn’t just for older adults—it’s essential for parents of all ages. “If you are young parents, you should be concerned with two things regarding yourselves: your own disability and your death,” Craig says. “So whatever estate planning gets created should be addressing both of those things in a way that’s substantive.”

He also highlights a critical aspect parents often overlook: making sure the people named in your plan know their roles and are ready to step in when needed and why keeping those relationships and conversations ongoing is so important.

“There’s a whole lot of terror that can be eliminated by having good guidance, careful guidance, with the awesome tools that are available to us,” Chris shares.
